Appupen’s Story with AI: Graphic novelist Appupen discusses 'Dream Machine', his latest book
on AI
Abstract:
One must have a well-informed idea of AI, in order to form an opinion on it. This is what we tried
to do with the book. I wanted to cut through the shallow narrative from big business, of AI being
all fun, fluff and convenience. Convenient for whom, and at what cost?
I'd like to take you through the story of how this book came into being. We will discuss the issues brought out in the book, and my take on it as a writer first and then an artist. I worked with Laurent Daudet, a scientist who is also a CEO and a professor, who opened my view into the AI world, warts and all. So then, I could shape it into a story.
