Playing games theoretically
Abstract: Who doesn't enjoy the thrill of playing games and, of course, savoring the sweet taste of victory? In this talk, we shall delve into some theoretical aspects of fair gameplay. We shall see how game theory encompasses things as simple as rock-paper-scissors and as gargantuan as national highways. By the end of this talk, you'll be equipped to ensure fairness even when cutting birthday cakes!
Speaker Bio
Debajyoti Kar is a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, co-advised by Dr. Arindam Khan and Dr. Siddharth Barman. He did his BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, where he was the silver medallist for obtaining the highest GPA. He is a recipient of the Google PhD Fellowship. His research interests mainly lie in Approximation and Online algorithms, Computational Geometry and Fair Division.
