Rules

• Participants should be enrolled in an educational institution
• Participants can participate in TEAMS of AT MOST 2 students.
• Each participant can be a member of only 1 team.
• There will be TWO rounds.

Registration

• Fill out the registration form: Link
• Enter the FULL NAME of team members, College/School, Email IDs, and Degree/Class.

Qualification Round

• MCQ-based round, +1 mark for correct answers and -0.33 for wrong answers.
• Questions will be based on problem-solving, algorithms, data structures, time complexity analysis, and debugging.
• This will be an offline round.
• Separate quiz will be held for school and college teams.
• The duration will be 45 minutes.
• 15 College teams and 15 School teams will qualify for the final round.

Final Round

• 2 hrs Coding round, with IOI style leader board (partial scoring with no penalty for failed submissions).
• The problem set will have 4-6 problems
• The final rank will be decided by the total time taken to submit the first submission with the maximum score for each problem.
• Each problem will have time & memory limits for submissions.
• Each team is allowed to carry with them one soft/hard copy of not more than 25 pages, (font size should be at least 11) that may contain code templates for reference
  
  • This will be scrutinized and in case any violations, we will bar any team from using the same.
  • You will be allowed to copy paste code from the soft copy directly if needed.
  • Contestants can use their predefined templates.
• Reference code must be submitted at least 1 hour before the Coding round. Teams will be allowed to download the reference code before the Coding round.
• The ranklist will be frozen 30 minutes before contest end time, that is at 5:00 pm.

InQUIZito

Description

• There will be three levels of quizzes:
  
  1. For students up to 8th standard (level Young Scientists)
  2. For students from 9th to 12th standard (level Thinkers)
  3. For students above 12th standard (level Puzzle Masters)
• Each candidate will be allowed to sit only at their respective quiz level.
• There will be 40 questions (MCQs and Fill in the blanks).
• Timings: 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM.
• Duration will be 30-45 mins based on the event's start time.
• The quiz will have the general aptitude and basic science problems.

Rules

• Participants should be enrolled in an educational institution.
• Use of a calculator or any electronic device is strictly prohibited.
• Each participant can sit in the quiz only after showing a valid institution ID Card.
• The decision of the coordinators will be final.
• Tie breaks will be based on less number of incorrect attempted questions.

Let's Code Music!

Description

The talk revolves around the design of a programming language called Chuck. Chuck code when executed plays music as per the programmer's specification. The key takeaway is to understand how the Chuck programming language is designed, what it essentially takes to design a programming language for the domain of music, and consequently opening up the discussion for designing languages for any domain.

Target Audience Skill Level

No prior experience is necessary for music. Basic programming experience is preferred, but not necessary.

Rules

• 1 minute will be allotted to each participant.
• Text will contain a mix of numbers, text and punctuation.
• Results will be declared based on WPM and Ties will be broken by accuracy.

Ring Master

Rules

• Participants can only participate individually. Teams are NOT allowed.
• Winners won't be allowed to participate in future rounds.

Overview

• Participants will toss rings on numbered cones to select values for each ring (variable), and the equation will be evaluated for each set of values.
• The player that achieves the highest score by maximizing the equation will win a prize.
• Winners will be chosen every hour.
• The event will run for several hours and feature a variety of equations and cone patterns to keep the game fresh and engaging. Whether competing individually or as part of a team, players will need to strategize and adapt to new challenges to come out on top.

Description

• Every hour (starting from 10 o'clock), we will be displaying a puzzle on the screens available on each floor. You are required to solve it and submit the answer via a form.
• QR code for the form will be available on each floor.
• New problems will be available at 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM.
• Each problem will be a logical puzzle.

How do recommendation systems work? And, what are their privacy implications?

Abstract

Have you ever wondered how good Spotify, Netflix, Amazon, .. give you such great recommendations for what to listen, watch, purchase, and live our lives? The magic behind their recommendations are the deep learning machine learning models. These models capture seemingly end-less amounts of information about our online behavior and transform these behaviors into embeddings for future recommendations. These machine learning models are massive (think of terabytes of data), trained on equally imposing set of training samples, called sparse features. Every click, purchase, and even a mouse hover on a website is a sparse feature for training the model. In this talk I will first provide an overview of how current generation recommendation systems work. If these models can recommend so well, then, they must also know a lot about us. In fact, they do. By simply observing features such as click history and object interactions an attacker can de-anonymize users with extremely high probability, or track users across different interaction sessions. For instance, if you tell me what are the last two items you purchased online, I can track you with 97% accuracy. All of which is to say there is a lot of interesting privacy research that needs to get done.

Bio

Murali Annavaram is a Dean's Chair Professor in the ECE and CS departments at USC. He currently holds the Smt. Rukmini - Shri. Gopalakrishnachar Visiting Chair Professorship at IISc. He is the founding director of the REAL@USC-Meta centre that is focused on research and education in AI, and the co-PI on the NSF DISCoVER Expedition on superconducting computing. His group’s KnightShift research won the 2012 IEEE Micro Top Picks’ most influential research paper award. His work at Intel lead to the first 3D microarchitecture design, and also influenced Intel's TurboBoost technology. Murali co-authored Parallel Computer Organization and Design, a widely used textbook in computer architecture. He is a Fellow of IEEE and Senior Member of ACM.

Towards Sustainable Agriculture prioritizing Global South using Machine Learning.

Abstract

The agricultural sector, which is a major source of employment in the global south, is unfortunately the second largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions globally after energy. Farmers are vulnerable to climate-related problems such as droughts, floods, and crop failure due to extreme temperatures. To mitigate these problems, it is crucial to develop innovative technological solutions that cater to the specific climate and socio-economic needs of the agricultural sector, thereby enabling it to advance rapidly in developing countries. Identifying different land features, such as fields, trees, and dug wells, and analyzing them to optimize water consumption, crop yields, and soil carbon sequestration is essential. Therefore, we concentrate on three areas: Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) for automatic identification of land features, Agriculture Monitoring and Event Detection (AMED) for automatic crop monitoring, and Soil Carbon Sequestration for a deeper understanding of the soil organic carbon change.

Bio

Radhika is a pre-doctoral researcher at Google Research India. She is passionate about leveraging the capabilities of machine learning to solve real-world problems. She recently completed her Master's in Artificial Intelligence from KAIST, South Korea, where she worked on enhancing the reliability of deep neural networks against natural and synthetic distribution shifts. Radhika was selected as a Grace Hopper Celebration India (GHCI) Scholar. Before joining Google, she also spent time at Brown University and IIT Hyderabad as a visiting researcher, which gave her valuable exposure to different research environments.
